Vicar & Planting Priest of Christ the King

¹ Funny story. I used to think “Fr” stood for “Friar,” as in Friar Tuck from Robin Hood. “Fr” actually stands for “Father,” as in spiritual father to this family of God.

Some traditions use personal titles like “Brother” or “Pastor” to show affection. Each title emphasizes a different aspect of our mutual affection in Christ. Chris answers to them all, because he is truly your brother, your friend, your father, your family in Christ.

In short, Fr Chris is our pastor.¹ He is an unworthy recipient of God’s grace through faith, an adopted son of King Jesus, the husband of Jodee, dad to three delightful kids, a father to many sons and daughters in Christ, and a priest in the Anglican Communion.

What is my role?

My role as Vicar of Christ the King Anglican Church is to hold fast to Jesus, proclaim the excellencies of Jesus, faithfully administer the sacraments, pray for those in my care, guide and protect the flock, and be faithful to the Scriptures… and lead others to do the same. I also love teaching my children, playing chess / Super Mario / guitar / pickup soccer games (I love to play), woodworking / building, reading good books, and puzzling with my bride.

Vestry

² The “vestry” is a group of laity whom serve the church through prayer, by giving regular counsel to the rector, and by helping to oversee various parochial business in the life of the church.

Our Vestry² regularly meets with Fr Chris to give him wise counsel in his oversight of our church. Presently, we have six members of our vestry: Diana Harer, Derek Bonnett (our Treasurer), Kevin Wilson, Curtis Sams, Angela Young, Josiah Smith, and Greg Madison.

Angela Young – Church Administrator

Angela oversees pretty much everything “behind-the-scenes” that keeps our parish going (and healthy!). She is a gift to our body, and her humble, excellent leadership and service keeps us on mission. Angela is married to Jason, they have six beautiful children (Danielle, Rosalyn, Emma, Jaylin, Maggie, & Jude), and they also roast the best coffee in West Virginia.

Nate Dickinson

at Church of the Good Shepherd, Summersville

Fr Nate is an ACNA Priest and has recently been sent out as a Church Planter from Christ to King (Jan 2023). Church of the Good Shepherd is early in its life together, and they’d love for you to join the mission in Nicholas County.

Fr Nate is a native of West Virginia (Putnam County), the husband of Anica, dad to Barnabas and Martin, a theology nerd, teacher, a coffee snob (he can make fancy latte art), and he received his Master of Divinity from SBTS.
